Program Description

The Gatherings for Change Youth Summits Mini-Grant was created by the Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF) of the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families (DCYF) to foster coalition and community building among youth within San Francisco’s highest need neighborhoods.

By bringing together youth from various backgrounds and encouraging collaboration between youth organizations, youth can work together to be agents of change for issues facing the communities they live in.

Total funding available: $30,000 Grant sizes: Up to $5,000 per summit

Review process and funding decisions will be made within six weeks from the date of proposal submission. You must fully complete an application and submit it electronically to [email protected].

Admissions Process: Application (competitive admissions with set deadlines and program start dates)
Enrollment Details: If you are thinking of applying, you must meet the following qualifications: --Your community summit must take place in one of our priority neighborhoods: Bayview Hunters Point, Chinatown, Excelsior, Mission, SOMA/Tenderloin, and Western Addition --Your planned summit must involve 3 collaborative partners, defined as 3 separate community-based organizations. Schools or separate programs within the same agency cannot be considered one of the 3 partners. --The lead agency must be non-profit and tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, be located in the City and County of San Francisco. --A core group of youth with members from each organization must be involved in both planning and executing the summit, and must complete the "Youth Leaders Section" of the application. Summits must take place by June 30, 2013.
