The Youth Leadership Institute’s TURF is a group of youth from SF who have been working for a number of years on making community level change to improve the health of San Franciscans, specifically around tobacco.
- Tobacco costs the city over $500 million in disease-related costs and our city is facing a problem with over concentration!
- Certain neighborhoods, especially the low-income communities and communities with people of color, are especially burdened by tobacco-related influences.
- TURF has been working on a policy campaign to change this.
